Outbacker Insurance is actually a combination of Outbacker and TwoPointFive, which have now merged to form a two-in-one company with each offering different types of cover.

The policies offered by Outbacker include Backpacker, Gap Year and Long Haul, and the policies offered by TwoPointFive include Single Trip, Multi-Trip and Winter Sports, as well as Golf, Business and Wedding covers as extras. So all in all it is fairly comprehensive.

The quote system is the same for all policies, and is very simple to follow, consisting only of the most basic details. You are then offered a Bronze, Silver or Gold level of cover, each with a different premium, and full details are provided below each one, including the excess which is often difficult to find on other providers. However, you can’t change them at this stage, so there is not a huge amount of customisation available. You just have to choose the best one for your needs.

It is all a very easy procedure, and the policies seem to cover everything you could need. Both companies also offer 61 sports and activities included in the standard cover, although you should check first to see if your particular sport is covered.

With TwoPointFive, there is a great ‘Kids Go Free’ feature which is one more reason to go with them. Both of the companies essentially don’t offer anything special, but they have good prices and a lot of choice on offer.
