Although most of the main types of insurance are covered by Leading Edge, including Annual Multi-Trip, Single Trip, Backpacker and Ski & Snowboard covers, unfortunately the age limits are very low. With 55 on most policies, and 45 on the backpacker policy, this is certainly a company aimed at younger travellers.

The service is not particularly good either. Although the quote is easy to acquire, involving simply entering in the number of days and the area of travel, the problem is that only one type of cover is offered for each policy, whereas many companies offer you different levels to suit your needs. There are no options for changing the policy by taking things off or adding things on, and this is quite frustrating.

However, the details of the cover level and the excesses are both displayed underneath, so at least it is easy to see what you are insured for.

Essentially, Leading Edge provides a service which is cheap and easy to use, but lacking in any type of customisation. This is a strange omission these days, when people are far choosier about what they want to be insured for. And although the prices are good, there are other providers with similar prices who offer greater levels of customisation.
