I think it's fair to say that your customer services must be one of the worst I've ever come across. On ringing to find out about obtaining some additional insurance for my daughter whilst on her travels I encountered a female who could not have sounded more disinterested if she had tried. She sounded as if she was eating whilst speaking to me and from the start made it clear she couldn't care less whether they had my business or not, telling me to go to the website and fill in a form there without bothering to find out whether I'd already tried that. When I commented on her attitude there was a very marginal improvement but she still managed to display an amazing ignorance about the products on offer and insurance in general. When I asked her what qualifications she had in insurance she put the phone down on me. Thank you for that, it helped me make up my mind. I don't think I'll bother with you. If that's the service you provide when selling, I dread to think what it's like if a poor customer has to make a claim! I would give - 10 if I could. I rang because it wasn't straightforward and there were no answers to my questions on the website. I guess i was lucky to find out what the service was like before purchasing.

I am planning a trip to Argentina next year and I firmly intend to go whale-watching so I have been shopping around for travel insurance. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Globelink Travel Insurance’s website. It is well-laid out and I was able to get a quote in a matter of seconds.
The “compare policies” tab is very useful and saves you the hassle of going back and forth to check what is covered and what’s not, depending on which policy you choose. They do have a wide choice of the policies on offer, from economy to comprehensive and I quickly found one that, for under a pound a day, suited my needs like a glove. I opted for their Globe Trekker Standard Plus policy, which is specially designed for backpackers and is very reasonably priced for the level of cover provided.
I found their section with the do’s and don’ts in certain countries very interesting, which can save you from landing yourself in trouble. Did you know that you would be ill-advised to make the thumbs up or OK signs in Argentina, particularly to a man? I didn’t!
They also have policies that are specially tailored for senior citizens, winter sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies. Also, and unlike most UK-based providers, their policies are available to people residing in the EU. What’s more, if you have already gone on your travels without insurance and suddenly come to your senses, they will provide post-departure cover, which takes effect immediately. They are quite helpful over the phone and seemed to know a lot about travelling, which was reassuring. They have a 24-hour emergency assistance line, even though I hope I’ll never need it.
