I stumbled across a link for Columbus Travel Insurance on the website I used to book a one week summer holiday to Menorca with my sister. We ultimately decided to take out our travel insurance with Columbus because, at less than £20 for both of us, it was the cheapest deal we could find. We were also able to sort out our policy online and receive confirmation by e-mail, avoiding the hassle of phone calls or lengthy queues at a travel agent or the Post Office.

A number of packages are available: single trip insurance, annual travel insurance or backpackers insurance. Columbus offers a wide range of policies in each category, all covering essentials such as medical expenses, personal accident cover and personal liability. There is also the option of extending basic coverage to include important extras such as cancellation of the holiday and travel delays, as well as adventurous sports not covered by a basic policy. The website is well designed and the coverage offered by each policy is displayed very clearly, so selecting the policy which best suits your particular requirements is simple.

Fortunately, my sister and I had no need to put our insurance to the ultimate test by making a claim during or after our holiday, but we were impressed by the very competitive price and how hassle free the booking process was. I would recommend Columbus to anyone seeking cheap, flexible travel insurance.
