Dont touch, I think just about any other insurance firm would be better. After being in an accident they left us hanging. They did not fully read the medical report and left me waiting for 5 days in a hotel room for a stretcher ride home from Turkey, despite me saying I needed urgent uk medical assistance. Upon returning to UK hospital to be told I was lucky to of made it as had a broken back and neck and needed urgent operation to stablilse bones etc. Now I have asked for claim forms for our lost property (in accident) to be told I have to prove the accident happened. Well excuse me what have they just paid out on in medical bills, their response was well thats a different department you should of reported to police at time. Well thats it I give up!

AXA are a big name in insurance policies and when you look at their website, it is clear why. The first page highlights the advantages of their travel insurance policies and the website also features a comprehensive FAQ section and extensive travel guides, ranging from ‘Before you go on holiday’ to ‘Greener travel’ and ‘Sustainable tourism’.
After filling out a basic form, AXA provide you with a quote for single or annual insurance and you can then add extra options, such as winter sports cover and baggage cover. There is even the option to include ‘independent travellers cover’, which provides independent travellers with the same financial security they would enjoy if booking a package holiday.
AXA also provide cover tailored to your specific requirements. These options provide the standard cover for weddings and golf equipment but cruise cover is available and adventure junkies are also covered by AXA’s sports and activities cover.
There are however mixed reports from those with AXA policies regarding claims, including passengers stuck in airports after flights have been cancelled because AXA will only pay out for delayed flights. However, AXA are now said to be reviewing the way they handle claims.
