Norwich Untion are a disgrace. They have opted out of customer service altogether and delegated everything to a Call Centre in India. The peopel at the centre speak good English but just keep reciting mindlessly from a rulebook and are clearly not able to show any initiative. NU make it impossible for you to get a UK number if you need complex advice - there isn't even one on their policy document (is this legal?)

Norwich Union Travel Insurance has an excellent reputation of rapidly settling customer claims. This factor is important as it is always a sign that you are dealing with an insurance provider that has the customer’s best interests at heart. Paperwork is kept to a minimum and customer service is excellent. Services conducted over the phone are, in general, promptly attended carried out and customers are rarely kept waiting in long phone queues.

Users have commented that the company is particularly efficient in resolving the many issues which arise when holidaymakers fall ill whilst abroad. Claimants have commended the firm’s willingness to make contact with holidaymakers even though they might not yet have returned from their holiday overseas.

A number of customers have, however, commented on the existence of hidden costs. For example if something goes wrong and you find you need to suddenly catch a return flight home, as arranged by the insurance firm, you are likely to have to cover the cost of transportation to the airport yourself. This expense could be relatively minimal if the airport is a mere taxi ride away. However, costs may be relatively high if domestic flights or long train journeys are required.
