E-mailed Atlas to find out what I would be covered for if my flight was cancelled during the volcano eruption. Got no reply for 3 weeks, which was then after my holiday which fortunately went without a hitch, only to be told I would not have been able to claim for anything under those circumstances, so I would have lost everything except for my flight money which would have been refunded by the airline. I may as well have not had any insurance at all. Do not use this company ever!

Atlas Direct offers four types of insurance policy on its main page: Single Trip, Annual, Winter Sports and Backpackers. Business and Activity covers also appear on tabs at the top of the screen, although the tabs are small and they are not immediately apparent.
On the left of the screen are numerous options, including ‘Get a quote’, ‘Renew my policy’ and a useful FAQ section which are available at all times, and this helps when you want to clarify something or perform a different task. The Policy Summary and Key Facts are also available to download at all times in PDF format, which is a very useful feature if you want to find out the essentials.
The quote process is very simple. You input your destination from a choice of four areas, such as Europe or the USA, then you enter the number of travellers in each age category, the number of children, the start date of the policy and the length of the trip. No personal details are needed at this stage, which makes getting a quote hassle free. You can also choose at this stage whether you would like Winter Sports cover added on.
After your quote appears on the screen, you are provided with a number of options, including the ability to take off the Cancellation and Baggage covers. You can also choose which level of excess you wish to pay, and all of these features will effect the premium. It’s a good system as it allows you to personalise your cover for your own specific needs, and the options are increased even further by the possibility of adding Golf cover and Wedding cover.
