I have often booked discounted hotel rooms through [http://www.alpharooms.com/webpages/insurance/insurance.aspx Alpha Rooms] and knew that they also offered travel insurance as an extra. My husband and I have an annual policy but I have used their website on a couple of occasions after booking accommodation to get insurance quotes for others.

They only cover people under the age of 65 so it has been no good when travelling with my parents, both of whom in any case have pre-existing medical conditions which Alpha Rooms simply are not set up to quote for. However, an adult under the age of 65 would pay £8.20 for cover for a 3 night short break in the EU (£12.46 for 7 nights) which seemed quite reasonable for anyone not wanting to fork out for an annual policy.

For some strange reason both times I have used the site for getting quotes I have had to try twice, the first attempt on each occasion being greeted with the message that they were sorry but they could not provide a quote. Apart from that minor niggle the site is easy to use and even easier if you have already registered with them for accommodation.

I noticed recently that redundancy cancellation is included which, in the current economic climate, will appeal to many. Knowing that Mondial Assistance is behind the policy is also reassuring, given their size and reputation.

do not use any insurance underwritten by mondial assistance. they do not pay claims
