Post Office voted favourite for travel insurance provision

With so many companies now providing travel insurance, it can be difficult to know where to turn when seeking the best cover for your next trip abroad with the family. However, if you take notice of the majority opinion, the choice is an extremely simple one. The public have voted the Post Office as its favourite travel insurance provider for the fifth year in a row at this year's British Travel Awards (it has also held the title of 'Best Foreign Exchange Provider' for a year less than that). The British Travel Awards are voted for solely by consumers and are held in extremely high regard within the industry.

It is thought that the independent travel insurer issues nearly one million travel insurance policies per year and particularly attractive aspects of their cover are thought to be the choice of cover on offer, the competitive price, and the speed with which they are able to settle complete claims: the majority of claims are dealt with and settled within the space of just five days.

The news comes as a real boost to the Post Office's travel service section, with Sarah Munro, Post Office Head of Travel Services stating that all employees are "excited that once again" they have been "recognised by the travel industry and more importantly the UK public", particularly in such a tough economic climate, which forces companies to remain competitive. It may actually be the case that the recession has provided the Post Office with a boost, with people falling back on the trust they can put in the bigger brands, rather than trying out untested smaller companies which could go bust at any time.
