Free winter sports cover with Tesco
1 commentAt a time when we are all trying to save money, it is nice to feel we are getting a free bonus from our insurance company. Any keen skiers taking out an annual travel insurance policy with Tesco will be pleased to find that, if they do so before January 7th 2009, they qualify for free winter sports cover. This can often be an expensive add-on with other policies, hence the number of people who foolishly take the risk and hit the slopes uninsured each year.
The cover provides insurance for up to 22 days and does not only include sports such as skiing and snowboarding but also tobogganing, ice skating, curling, bobsleighing, and even off-piste skiing so long as you are accompanied by an instructor. It also provides up to £250 for the loss of a ski pass, £500 for ski equipment, and £300 for replacement ski hire. £200 worth of cover for piste closure is also provided.
Accidents do happen but there are steps which skiers can take to avoid trouble on their winter break according to Tesco, who have put together a list of safety dos and don’ts. These tips include the following:
- Get fit before your holiday
- Check your equipment before you leave and only hire from a reputable supplier
- Consider wearing helmets (especially if there are children in your party) and protectors for knees and wrists
- Steer clear of alcohol at lunch time
- Follow instructions on-piste and don’t venture off-piste without taking expert advice
- Don’t get over-tired
- Wear sunscreen to protect your skin and goggles to avoid being blinded by the sun
