Insurefor.com has launched a new product designed to protect customers in the event of an airline, tour operator, hotel or car hire company going out of business. The product is called Supplier Failure Cover (SFC) and it is certainly worth considering if you are going on holiday in the near future. The cover will set you back just £4 for a single trip and annual policies can be purchased for just twice this amount.

The product can be purchased at the same time as you purchase your general travel insurance. It will provide protection up to the value of £5,000 and provides numerous advantages over conventional ATOL cover. Whilst ATOL does not cover airline failure or non-air holidays, SFC does. Furthermore, ATOL will not protect you in the event of an airline or tour operator deciding to cancel the flight. SFC will cover you in this instance, providing you with real peace of mind.

If you do decide to purchase SFC, you will be provided with access to a help line, which is available at all hours of the day. A service will be provided to re-book elements of your holiday which have gone wrong (or the entire holiday if this is necessary). You will be able to travel to the airport safe in the knowledge that if your flight is cancelled and an alternative is not provided within twelve hours, then up to £5,000 will be yours. This rule applies regardless of the original cost of the ticket, even if it cost you just £1 through a budget airline.

#1 Useful site, but when reading the policy wording i noticed the policy has a £50 excess which is no good for cheap flights. Also the wording has a 7 day insurer cancellation clause which worries me if my airline sometime later after buying the policy gets into financial problems. Under the wording also if i want to make a claim i have to get written evidence from the liquidator, which could take months if they actually reply to me. There are many other alternatives to this cover without all these conditions.
